Stunning debut for three well-known Italian musicians, coming from the more experimental side of jazz and hip-hop. A project, a record, a common goal. Tino Tracanna (saxophone player and composer, coordinator for the jazz class in Milano, member of the Franco DAndrea band since the early eighties) and Roberto Cecchetto (acoustic and electric guitars) teams up with the hip-hop/electronic producer Walter Buonanno (Assalti Frontali, Sud Sound System and Caparezza) also known as Bonnot. Drops is namely a meeting between different languages, the inspiration came from the multi-faceted global village and we can easily face a musical Babylon in terms. Different voices, sketches from Africa, classical ectoplasm, monumental hip-hop breaks, sultry melodies and electronic devices are part of the same journey. The improvisation is the medium and the musicians came across a very original formula without any pre-conceived idea. Everything is clear indeed and the plot is easy to assimilate. A number of special guests perform in the record: the internationally aknowledged trumpet player Paolo Fresu is on board, so is rapper M1 from Dead Prez along reggae singer General Levy, turntable wizard DJ Gruff and more.
