"The Discotheque Years". Started in 1966, a modern recording facility, La voix de la Révolution, and a state funded record label, Syliphone, allow Guinea's musicians and orchestras to be recorded Conakry. From 1970 to 1977, the label starts a famous collection, ie the Discothèque serie. Never properly reissued, released on such compilations, but also sometimes on singles and albums, these following 25 tracks convey the unrivaled sound of 1970's Guinea, with its exuberant elegance, frantic ingeniousness, revolutionnary fervor and disarming sincerity. By the end of this decade, in spite of a few musical late sparkles, musical production came to a halt. Sekou Touré's death in 1984 drew a line to this fascinating cultural authenticity era.
