This compilation is a snap shot of some of the original Nashville blues artists. We have lost so many of these great artists, who literally created the blues, soul, country and rock & Roll. This compilation showcases the cannon of the classic era of American roots music. Featured on this CD are the cream of the classic Nashville blues scene, many of whom are no longer with us. Nashville writer and produce Fred James started producing Sam Lay, Frank Frost and Homesick James and went on to produce most of Nashville?s blues royalty. When word got round among the older guys in Nashville, that Fred was the man to see about making new blues recordings, names like the legendary Johnny Jones, Larry LaDon, Roscoe Shelton and Earl Gaines, (who was the first Nashville blues singer to have a #1 million selling record) and many more joined the list of artists produced by Fred. Earl Gains passing in 2009 certainly marked The End Of An Era, he never retired and kept a recording contract in every decade since his debut on Excello Records in 1955. Still entertaining us are Charles Walker who is having unprecedented success with his group The Dynamites, Al Garner and Herbert Hunter and the legendary Sam Lay is in his sixth decade and shows no sign of slowing down.
