This first album released by Enzo Carniel and Filippo Viganto, 'Aria', is carried by simple melodies and tenuous threads. The album can refer to the opening of Bach's Goldberg variations, to sung opera arias, but above all to an expressive melody that develops the imagination. The duo finds a balance between improvisation and conversation, freedom and virtuosity. Influences range from Carla and Paul Bley, Keith Jarrett, Gary Valente, Albert Mangelsdorff, Ornette Coleman to John Surman. It also explores the contemporary colors of electronic music, ambient and Japanese minimalism.
