Popis - HALF TRUTHS:
Half truths: 100% independently produced and recorded in San Jose, Costa Rica, with producer Grammy winner, Bernardo Quesada. Mix/Mastered in Bogota, Colombia. It is a collaboration in efforts from songs I wrote in the small pueblo of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, an old farm house in Upstate New York, and a basement in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. These songs that were creatively drawn from a well of shit, became very dear in their sincerity. There is a realness to them that you can't invent. Instead, you accept, and so I did. These songs shine on stuff people like to hide, even though we know we shouldn't. I would like to introduce a new entry to a word in the English language, something of a beacon, pride. a sentiment, a inner promise we don't have to wrestle to allow to exist. A feeling we could house daily in us, like our desire to succeed, breed, feed and nurture those we love and want to love. I propose a word that handles these innate parts of consciousness and adds a teaspoon of commitment to the world around us...that it doesn't have to be this way, that it can be better, and we could be a part of it. Life in a world of magnificent coffee breaks and conversations that truly change your mood. A 'hi' that is meant and a 'bless you' that actually feels like medicine. We could leave behind self-help books that crowd the shelves of our confidence. We could dismiss words that anchor us: falter, escape, envy and hate. A simple desire to make little things great. We could be soldiers fighting tiny battles. The battle to keep your plants alive, the battle to better your relationships, the battle with procrastination, the battle to look in a mirror and like what you see. This muse, this dangling carrot, creed, inspiration, om mantra, motto, memo, post it, reminder, stream of consciousness, hope, motivator, chant, battle cry, anthem, state, status.... could be our personal commitment to a life of better things. Proper, (PRah-PER)n,adj. a commitment to yourself and all things that the world will, one day, be a better place...and you played an important part in it. This music is about getting it all out and dealing with your own stuff so nobody else has to do it for you. It is about making yourself happy first, then benefitting from the results. This music is about mixing it all together, collecting all sorts of things through your senses and making sense of it. It is every great sound I have ever heard all bunched into to time measures and layered with some inventive and stolen bits from everywhere I have traveled and everyone I have met. Proper is about finding the new in other things and expressing it through what I know about music. It is ever-evolutionary and easily influenced. -marce
