Featuring John Holt, Garth Tyrone Evans and Howard Barrett , the Paragons became one of Jamaica's most popular acts during the rock steady era of the late sixties, during which time they recorded such notable hits as 'Wear You To The Ball', 'Happy Go Lucky Girl', 'On The Beach', 'Only A Smile' and their most celebrated song, 'The Tide Is High'. By the early seventies, the group had disbanded, but Blondie's hit version of the latter led to their reunion in 1981, resulting in the trio recording updated versions of all their classic sixties sides for US-based DJ-come-producer, Lister Hewan-Lowe.
