Popis - MESS OF THINGS:
I you HAD to compare Carla Bean to any other Artist... 'Take some theatrical vocal harmonies from Queen and Abba; Eccentric synths and grooves from David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, and Depeche mode; Sultry and Powerful Vocals from Annie Lennox, Fiona Apple, Lauryn Hill, Sara Bareilles, and Bjork; Intelligent and complex composition and keyboard playing, from Stevie Wonder and Tori Amos; And a sarcastic, humorous personality and lyrics from Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, and The Residents... Then you would have maybe one of Carla Bean's songs. You'll have to come up with your own recipes for the rest!' Carla Bean has also been compared to Kelly Clarkson, Gotye, Kimbra, Regina Spektor, Radiohead, and of course, any young female singer who plays piano:) Whatever the song; the production and arrangement is clean pristine and competitive. Her live performance is tight, energetic, funky, and it downright rocks. Ms. Bean was born in a tiny tiny town, just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This town was home to a Gothic cathedral, a Medieval castle, a few European mansions, and a whole mess of forest and meadows. Carla Bean believes her imagination was allowed to thrive because of her unique up-bringing. The childhood hallucinations and night terrors probably didn't hurt either. If you listen to her music, you'll know, that whimsy and quirk are always essential ingredients. Her mother, a creative writer and poet, and her father, a musician and visual artist, infused BEAN with the bug for all things musical, artistic, and creative. She started playing her father's various pianos, organs, Wurlitzer, accordions; and singing at the top of her lungs when she was supposed to be excited about dolls and Disney World. She was drawing twisted creatures in school, when she was supposed to be taking quizzes. Carla Bean got a disturbing amount of mileage out of the sticks and rocks that the woods provided her. Fresh Cut Salads BEAN started playing all-by-her-self, and joined some swell bands as soon she met some like-minded music creators in high school. With Fresh Cut Salads, she gigged at pretty much every venue in Philly, and surrounding. She is still occasionally playing with the Salads when their schedules will allow. A few years after releasing Vitamin Sea, and a few great music videos, they are working on another full length album. BEAN, on Musical Development: 'When I was about 12, I started experimenting with recording on a little double tape player, by painstakingly bouncing single tracks back and forth until I had somewhat of a sad little multi-track, but low-fidelity, masterpiece. Finally, I saved-up enough money from working at a bagel store, doing geriatric care, landscaping, and cleaning, to purchase a 'cutting-edge' eight-track digital recorder(which became basically obsolete in a year). I used this to record people around town, and work out my own music.' Out of high school, BEAN studied production and engineering, and interned at local recording studios. She Collaborated with other talented people, in music and video, now Carla Bean has teamed up with Producer and extraordinary musician, Rubin Edwards to take her own music to the next level. After Releasing her video for 'Magic Box' She has just moved to Los Angeles to finally release her debut EP, Mess of Things, which has been in the works for a few years. She will be heading back to Ru Ba Groov Studios, in Philadelphia, often, because she's already working on her next album.
