Popis - LOVE IS HERE (AND I'M GONE):
I was once, in my college days, a singer/songwriter and a performer in Arkansas. I wrote hundreds of songs and made one (ill-fated) recording in Memphis. Then I took a break. Forty years later, in 2009, I found myself in need of musical validation. I had agreed to read from a chapbook of my poems at the university in Bulgaria where I worked, when it occurred to me that this might be an opportunity to perform some of my lyric poems as well. I was never much of a guitar player, so I looked around and found a Moldovan student, Eugeniu Prodan, who was playing with a college band called Slow, and who was one of the best guitarists I had ever heard. It seemed an odd mix--a 21-year-old punk rocker and a sixty-ish English professor, but somehow we struck a chord. We began recording under the name Somebody Else (a phrase borrowed from Arthur Rimbaud). The result is the album 'Love Is Here,' which features compositions of mine that span a period of four decades; some were written as far back as 1969 ('The Gift,' 'Golden Boy'), while others are as recent as this year ('Love Is Here,' 'Out Pargeter Way'). Eugene provides the guitar accompaniment, and I sing all the songs--with one exception: 'The Gift: a Song of Christmas' features an additional vocal on the chorus by a Belarussian songstress, Kseniya Pleskacheuskaya.
