Legendary 'lost and near mythological' recordings from May
1969, produced by Miles Davis and Teo Macero, featuring Betty
Davis (vocals) accompanied by a.o. Jimi Hendrix Experience
drummer Mitch Mitchell, guitarist John McLaughlin, Herbie
Hancock on keys and bassist Billy Cox (Band Of Gypsys). These
historic sessions -never heard, never bootlegged- predate
Miles' revolutionary album 'Bitches Brew' and mark the birth of
Miles' jazz-rock explorations, along with the roots for Betty's
groundbreaking hi-energy funk that came years later. The
material includes self-written songs as well as covers (of classics from Cream and CCR), played in an exciting style that
blends funk, futuristic jazz, psychedelic rock and more. Also
included is a 1968 Columbia single (plus unreleased music from
the same session) that was produced by Jerry Fuller and
featured South African maverick Hugh Masekela with members of
the Jazz Crusaders. 'The Columbia Years 1968-1969' is an
