Popis - VII (SEVEN):
About Conya Doss Conya Doss has prevailed, for 15 years, as a top female vocalist, garnering accolades from USA Today, VIBE, Billboard, Complex Magazine, BET, Soul Train, Ledisi, Michael Baisden, DJ Jazzy Jeff, SoulTracks, and Anthony Hamilton while gracing many magazine covers. Her recipe for good music-making has led to the receipt of the SoulTrack's Best Female Vocalist, Heineken Redstar Soul Artist of the Year, a nomination for Best Underground Artist at the BET J Awards, and listings on iTunes as Best R&B Underground/Indie Artist and Best R&B Indie Track for the single “It’s Over” off her 2008 album Still. With a vocal style that has been heavily inspired by Nina Simone, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Bonnie Raitt, and Angela Winbush, Conya’s vocals weaves the sounds of yesteryears with thought-induced messages. As an individual who has diligently sought to find her destined self in this forever-changing world, each album delivers musical dance sets between her vocal chords and transparent soul - always story-telling to listeners from a situational perspective. She attended the prestigious Cleveland School of the Performing Arts and sang with childhood friend Stacy Richardson-Crawford (former back-up singer for the late Gerald Levert and Anthony Hamilton) in the duo Lyrik. As an adult, Conya wrote for the group 3LW (crooners of the hit song, “No more. Baby, I’ma Do Right” and worked with Gerald Levert and PAJAM before venturing into a career as a solo artist. In 2001, Conya started her own recording label Conya Doss Songs and began recording her first album. Despite industry pressure to adapt and become mainstream, Doss chooses to “keep it real” and maintain her authentic self The Cleveland, OH-based artist also starred in a McDonald’s nationwide soulful McCafe commercial. Conya also mentors teen girls, tutors, and is an active philanthropist for breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, and mental health awareness. She has been an ambassador for BET's Rap-It-UP campaign and in 2013, joined Brandy and Civil Rights leader, Julian Bond for the 'Keep The Promise' March & Rally in Ohio, US.
